For the second year, McVay Physical Therapy sponsored a team for the annual Brandon Motta 5K and 2 Mile Fun Walk, held at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. On August 26, 2012, on a perfect Sunday morning, the event, with over 125 people: 85 runners, 40 walkers, and a number of supporters, gathered for the fifth annual benefit. McVay Physical Therapy is proud to sponsor and be associated with this wonderful community day.

The McVay team all completed their individual runs and walks, with 5K runners Kendra McVay coming in at 33:56, Connie Ciampanelli at 35:48, Sheena McGee-Flynn at 36:14, and walkers Tony Ciampanelli at 34:38, Francine McVay at 38:06 and Kevin Duarte at 38:09.  We also had support, including runners, from the New England Tech Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Jessica Alves, physical therapy assistant was on hand with a massage table offering post-race stretching sessions to interested participants. Brandon was diagnosed with CMT, a neuromuscular disorder. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Brandon Motta Fund which helps the family with costs associated with Brandon’s care. Thanks to everyone for their help and support!
